Launched in 1995, the Pulse Polio Programme undertook the monumental task of vaccinating every child under five years of age, leading to India's historic certification as polio-free.

The 1995 foundation

The campaign began with a singular focus: reaching millions of children in a single day. Health workers established booths across towns and villages, bringing life-saving drops to the most remote communities.

Polio-free certification in 2014

After years of relentless vigilance and zero recorded cases, the World Health Organization officially declared India free of wild polio, marking one of public health's greatest victories.

Eradication is not the end of the campaign. We maintain constant vigilance through sewage water testing, rapid response teams, and immediate investigation of any suspected paralysis cases.
